Mrs. Block's 2022 Spring Recital Series at the UCLA Chancellor's Residence

Sponsored by the UCLA Emeriti/Retirees Relations Center

Over the past 14 years, Mrs. Carol Block has graciously opened the doors of the Chancellor’s Residence allowing students from The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music to showcase their talents while creating a unique opportunity for UCLA emeriti and retirees to interact with students while enjoying beautiful music in a social setting.

This series has featured hundreds of undergraduate and graduate students as they perform music of diverse styles including classical, jazz, bluegrass, and mariachi, among others.

Praised for his "rich palette of dynamic colors" and "wonderful sense of lyricism," Alexandre Tchaykov has built a multifaceted career as a performer, teacher, and interdisciplinary artist. As a performer, he has won competitions such as the Thaviu Isaak piano competition, the MTNA Young Artist Georgia competition, and the University of Georgia concerto competition. He has also performed in world-class concert halls like Hodgson Hall in Athens, GA and Galvin Hall in Evanston, IL. A passionate advocate for contemporary music, Tchaykov not only frequently performs repertoire of the late 20th century, but also explores the music of today's up-and-coming composers like Felipe Lara and Sebastian Currier.

If you have limited mobility and are driving yourself, turn left up the hill past the gate to park in the upper ADA lot. Walk along the driveway to the front door.
