A Welcome from our president

Greetings, fellow retirees. The UCLA Retirees Association (UCLARA) welcomes you. Whether you are a long-time member or new to the organization, we invite you to join in all the programs and events, some online and some in person…to connect with your friends and coworkers.

Retirement is a time of many opportunities and challenges. Did you plan to retire with a specific purpose in mind? Did you plan to take your time exploring a variety of opportunities? Wherever you started, it’s great to be able to make choices which aren’t based on a work schedule. 

Jump right in and join one of our many virtual or in-person programs. Whether it’s a virtual session from the LA Conservancy, a closer look at the Getty collection or a discussion with one of UCLA’s world-class professors, an in-person trip to a historic site, or a hike in one of LA’s many parks, there is something for everyone. Do you love to travel to places near and far with fellow retirees? In conjunction with either Collette or Overseas Adventures, our travel chair organizes many trips. Check out the many interest groups we sponsor from reading groups to games or organize a group of like-minded retirees to learn something new. Maybe you would like to volunteer as a mentor to UCLA staff.

Would you like to become more involved with future planning for UCLARA? Join one of our committees or consider volunteering for the Board. We have several positions open for next year.

The UCLARA website and quarterly newsletter Connections has lots of information on all of the above and much more. Don’t forget that we have an archive of our back issues available on the website.
