Queen Nefertari, the Great Royal Wife of Pharaoh Ramesses II, is one of the most famous queens of ancient Egypt. She was known for having one of the most elaborate temples and a tomb dedicated solely to her, a fact that was unprecedented for queens in Egyptian history. Nefertari's tomb was famously discovered in 1904 by Italian archaeologist Ernesto Schiaparelli. Her funerary objects were housed at the Museo Egizio in Turin, Italy, but now are touring around the United States.
This virtual talk with Art Muse Chloe Landis will take us on a tour of some of the great historical sites of Egypt which hold special significance to the extraordinary queen. Previously ArtMuse LA has led us on wondrous visits to Barcelona, Monet's gardens at Giverny, Casa Azul in Mexico and Circa 1521.
Note: By means of a tremendous engineering feat in the 1960s, the temples were salvaged from the Nile's rising waters caused by the erection of the High Aswan Dam.
