Mrs. Block's 2023 Spring Recital Series at the UCLA Chancellor's Residence

Sponsored by the UCLA Emeriti/Retirees Relations Center

Over the past 15 years, Mrs. Carol Block has welcomed students from The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music to the Chancellor's Residence to showcase their talents while creating a fun unique opportunity for UCLA emeriti and retirees to interact with Bruins and experience beautiful music in a social setting.

This series has featured hundreds of undergraduate and graduate students performing music of diverse styles, including classical, jazz, bluegrass, mariachi and more.

Ian Schipper

Some of his favorite works are those of German Romantic, particularly those by Brahms and Richard Strauss, Handelian opera and oratorio, and Verdi operas. He was recently featured as the Bass Soloist for Bach’s St. John Passion, Christ lag in Todes Banden, and Magnificat with the St. Olaf Choral Ensembles. In the choral world, he has served as a staff singer at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in Portland and All Saints Episcopal Church in Beverly Hills.

The UCLA Chancellor’s Residence is located at 10570 Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles. If you are driving to the Residence, come to the Sunset Boulevard entrance gate, the only driveway on the south side of Sunset between Royce Drive and Hilgard Avenue. Parking spaces are available to your right, just after the gate, and further up the driveway on the left. Note the top left parking lot requires no stairs to reach the house. The front entrance to the residence is located just off the turnaround at the top of the driveway.

If you are driving a guest who has limited mobility, feel free to drop them off at the front door, then proceed to park in a Residence lot.

For those who wish to walk from campus, a pedestrian gate between Parking Structure 3 and the Residence, across Charles E. Young Drive from the Broad Art Center, will be unlocked.
