ERRC Cares: Strategies for Caregiving

Caregiving can be lonely. Whether you check on a sibling, friend, care for a spouse or parent, or pick up medicine for your neighbor — you are a caregiver.

When we are taking care of another person, it’s hard to remember that we also need to take care of ourselves. In this online discussion, we’ll explore the practice of self-compassion as a way to bring kindness to ourselves in times of difficulty. 

Caregiving may involve shopping, housekeeping, providing transportation, feeding, bathing, toilet assistance, dressing, walking, coordinating appointments and medical treatments, or managing a person’s finances.

Caregivers in particular are at high-risk for burnout and fatigue, and this dialogue is designed specifically to show how self-compassion can address the many difficulties caregivers face.
