Join us for a private 1-hour planetarium show at the UCLA Planetarium. The UCLA Planetarium finished construction in 1957 as part of the Mathematical Sciences Building, and is operated by the UCLA Department of Physics and Astronomy. Over its lifetime, the 24-foot diameter dome has housed three different star projectors (see below). The UCLA Planetarium is a unique and intimate setting for visitors to learn about the universe. The facility offers shows to introductory astronomy classes, the Los Angeles community, and educational groups. Shows are presented primarily by UCLA Astronomy graduate students. The content of a show varies by presenter, but commonly includes discussion about the current night sky, constellations, astronomical phenomena, and more!
We will meet 10 minutes before our 10:00AM showtime at the entrance of the Mathematical Sciences Building (next to a small breezeway at the northwest corner of the Court of Sciences). The planetarium is accessible by elevator or stairs and is located on the 8th floor roof. No food or drink is permitted in the dome.
***Due to congestion on the UCLA campus, please arrive 30 minutes before the show start time for ample time for parking as we are not able to accommodate late arrivals. The closest parking structures to the Mathematical Sciences building are Lots 8 and 9 (off of Westwood Blvd) and Lot 2 (off of Hilgard Ave). For detailed directions, click here.
