What is Changing: While the vast majority of alumni and retired Bruins are under the email "g.ucla.edu" storage quotas, several accounts exceed the future storage capacity.
UCLA’s current storage significantly exceeds the new model’s limits, and as a result, UCLA will need to reduce its Google Workspace storage to ensure uninterrupted service and cost-effectiveness. An option for those who require additional storage and are eligible
Google Workspace for Education storage is comprised of any data in UCLA Personal "g" Drives, Gmail and Photos, and Shared Accounts for all affiliate groups using the UCLA campus environment.
Retirees, Emeriti and those on Recall are affected.

Retirees: In June, retirees will have a Permanent Baseline Quota of 5GB in UCLA’s Google Workspace instance. This limit applies to your Google Mail account; note that UCLA Google Workspace services will be limited to only Google Mail starting June 27, 2024.
Emeriti: A temporary one-year extension is available until June 2025 for research-related personal drive data storage for emeriti set at slightly above current usage. While the extension is underway, emeriti are asked to continue to reduce their storage use.
