Live Performance of "The Grand Hotel Tartarus"

Join UCLA Opera in the School of Theater, Film, and Television's Freud Playhouse for the premiere of Professor Richard Danielpour's operaThe Grand Hotel Tartarus.

Six guests appear at an ornate hotel with no idea how they got there. The gracious and aristocratic hotel manager, Mr. Lucian, promises to fulfill all their earthly desires for eternity if they remain. In this new opera by Richard Danielpour, the guests will have one night only to ponder a choice that will affect them for eternity.

On May 17, 2024, Danielpour’s two act opera The Grand Hotel Tartarus will receive its world premiere at the Freud Theater in UCLA's MacGowan Hall in Los Angeles. The tickets for this show are free, but you MUST register for them. Registration closes on Friday. May 17, 2024. A light reception for our registrants will be held in the MacGowan Courtyard before the show. We will also have a section of seats reserved for us.

 Danielpour has been on the UCLA Music faculty since 2017. He is one of the most recorded composers of his generation; many of his recordings can be found on the Naxos of America and Sony Classical labels. Danielpour's music is published by Lean Kat Music and Associated Music Publishers.
