Join the Retirees on Thursday October 17, 2024 at 4:15 pm for a virtual tour.

This presentation introduces Iberia’s past with a particular focus on al-Andalus or “Islamic Spain”. Together we will explore the esoteric framework of the medieval period. By exploring ideas preserved in medieval Andalusi Sufi metaphysics, philosophical fiction, or theories of astral magic we can gain a greater appreciation for the Islamic art showcased in museums right now throughout southern California. Let us stroll through the infinite and realize the magic within us.

This virtual talk is presented by Veronica Menaldi. She is a former Asst. Professor at University of Mississippi and holds MA and PhD degrees in Hispanic Literatures and Cultures at the University of Minnesota with a medieval studies PhD minor and my Honors BA in Romance Languages and Literatures (Spanish and French) at the University of Michigan with a music minor. Currently she is the vice president of Societas Magica and an independent scholar based in Colorado and author of many articles.
