Day Hike to Trippet Ranch and Eagle Rock, Topanga State Park

A good place to start a visit to Topanga State Park is Trippet Ranch, once a "gentleman's ranch" for a weekend getaway from the city.  Our hike is 4.6 miles with 958 feet elevation gain and takes about 2 hours, 20 minutes.  The route begins at Musch Hike-in Camp and takes you to the beautiful Eagle Rock overlook.  The Eagle Rock slab is a great place to stop, take pictures and enjoy the view!  The trail is good for bird watching, hiking, good views, wildlife, and plenty of greenery.  No dogs are allowed on the trail.  This hike would be rated moderate or intermediate, requiring prior hiking experience.  We look forward to seeing you there!

There is some shade along this well maintained trail or fire road, but it would be wise to wear appropriate clothing and bring enough water. Temperature is expected to be in the mid-70’s to mid-80’s and could be breezy. Bring a hat, water and a snack.

Sadly, since this is a state park, no dogs are allowed.
