The trail is THIS way! Come with us.
Hike Description: Moderate to strenuous
A steep uphill for a good portion early on our 4 mile hike. The trail is OK, but narrows to single file and widens to fire road size at times. There is limited shade; some rocky, uneven path conditions exist (hiking sticks could prove useful). We encountered other hikers and joggers but no bicycles or water crossings. We did see several dogs with handlers on the trail, so the pups should be OK to come along.
We will start at the Japanese Garden and go up from there around the hill to the top. Features we will encounter: a koi pond with lots of turtles, great views of the city, ML King memorial, a hummingbird feeding area and the creek that leads down to Gwen Moore Lake and lots of birds.
Parking: At the entrance to the Japanese Garden
Registration: This event is open to UCLA Retiree and Emeriti Association members and one guest per registrant only until June 20, 2025. Registration is limited. More details will be sent to the registrants a few days before the hike.
